Frequently Asked Questions

1) What happens if I miss the deadline for Application?
The deadline for application is to ensure files are complete for consideration for first round placement decisions. You can still apply to SCS for positions not filled in first round decisions, or for placement in the wait pool for any positions that may open before the beginning of the 2012/2013 school year.

2) What is a wait pool?
If an applicant is qualified to attend Southwest Christian School but there are no places currently available, the applicant’s name will be placed in a qualified “wait pool.” The wait pool is made up of qualified applicants available to fill a specific grade. Wait pools are not prioritized wait lists. Students must complete the application process and be qualified for placement before being considered in the wait pool. When and if an opening becomes available, the Admission Committee will convene and select the most appropriate candidate for the opening. All students on qualified wait pool status will remain there until December 31st. After this time, all students in the qualified wait pool will need to reapply for the following school year.

3) Do priority placements exist?
In a desire to keep families together, Southwest Christian School reserves the right to give priority consideration to qualified sibling, faculty and alumni applicants.

6) At what age may my child attend SCS?
Applicants for the 3 and 5 day FULL DAY classes must be 4 by October 31, 2012. Kindergarten applicants must be five by September 1st.

7) Does SCS offer specialized help for struggling students?
The Learning Lab program is designed to encourage and support struggling students diagnosed with a learning disability and/or Attention Deficit Disorder. The Learning Lab program does not offer a separate curriculum. The purpose is to guide each student to achieve satisfactory progress and grade level expectations within the established SCS curriculum. Click here for more information.
