HOMECOMING 2012- SCS ANNOUNCES DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI

Kasey King and Joseph Atherton

Kasey King (pictured left) is a 2004 graduate of Southwest Christian School. While at SCS, he was involved in football, soccer, track, choir, four musical productions, National Honor Society and was elected as vice president of his class.
After high school, Kasey attended the United States Air Force Academy and graduated in May 2008 with a B.S. in Systems Engineering Management. In his senior year at the Academy, he was made squadron commander of Cadet Squadron 13. Upon graduation, Kasey completed a year-long pilot training course at Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Captain Kasey currently serves our country as a mission ready C-130 pilot.
At the end of September 2012, Kasey completed a 4 ½ month tour of duty in Afghanistan and returned safely home to his lovely wife, Ashley Dunlap King (’06). The Kings reside in Arkansas where Kasey is stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base.
Kasey and Ashley attend the Central Church in Little Rock where he leads a small group Bible study. He also volunteers his time to River City Ministries in their dental clinic.

Joseph Atherton (pictured right) graduated from Southwest Christian School in 2004. During his time at SCS, he participated in baseball, football, student service programs, served as SCS student body president, lead the school magazine and interned for the 457th fighter squadron and Senator Kay Granger.
Joseph is a 2009 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy where he majored in business management. After graduation from the Academy, Joseph attended undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin AFB, where he received the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) Commander’s Trophy, awarded to the top graduate of his pilot training class. In his current assignment, he was named Outstanding Officer of the Quarter and also Outstanding Instructor Pilot of the Quarter.
A First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, Joseph serves our country as an instructor pilot in the T6-A Texan at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio where he and his wife, Ali, reside.
The Athertons are involved in a weekly church prison ministry and attend Del Rio Bible Church. Joseph is a member of the Air Force Academy Association of Graduates and, in his spare time, teaches Eagle Scouts how to fly.
